Get students active with a "class mixer"
Class mixer games can be used to get the students out of their chairs and communicating with others.

For example, Games2teach Match Up Mixer is a typical “match up” game; Game cards have a questions on the left and answers on the right. Participants have to match up the questions and the answers. The twist to this game is that the answer on the right won’t be on the same card as the question. Players have to walk around and search the game cards of others for the needed answer. Answers can only be used once so students have to be quick to find the other student who has the answer they need.

Mixer games are great at the beginning of the year to help students meet each other. They can also be used to “stretch legs” after a long lecture.
